MARINE, PORTS & DAMS
Services:
The Engineering Assessment and Marine Evaluation engineers at NOEL offer the following services:

-
Interdisciplinary Engineering Condition Assessment: Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical. Preliminary and detailed structural, mechanical, and electrical condition and engineering assessment. NOEL employs established interdisciplinary teams for condition assessment.

-
Risk Assessment of Infrastructure. Quantifying likelihood and consequence of failure to determine the risk level using client risk matrix or a custom-made risk matrix.

-
Capacity Prediction of Existing Structure. Use of advanced structural engineering tools to assess the capacity of existing infrastructure with various levels of deterioration (mild vs severe), different structural forms (piled wharves, caissons, jetties), and different materials (concrete, steel, and wood).

-
Service Life Prediction of Existing Structure. Use of probabilistic tools supplemented with field data to predict the remaining service life of existing marine infrastructure by considering uncertainties in the environmental loads, structure deterioration (cracks, freeze-thaw damage, etc.), and impact of climate change (increased wave power).

-
Load Rating of Existing Structures. Use of probabilistic tools to determine limits on operational loads to ensure the safe operation of the structure. Can be determined in conjunction with items (b) and (c).

-
Repair versus Replacement Assessment. Performing comparative engineering, cost, and impact on greenhouse gas (GHG) emission assessment to make an informed decision about repair versus replacement.

-
Preliminary and Detailed Engineering Design of Repair/Upgrade. Exploring optimized and cost-effective repair strategies to extend the service life of existing infrastructure, perform detailed engineering, issue drawing packages, develop work packages, and provide site support.
